PICS: Eire Sign Revealed After Fire On Bray Head

The recent gorse fires on Bray Head have revealed a Second World War Éire sign that has been covered for over 70 years. The Garda Air Support Unit air corps crew spotted the sign while flying over the area as they supported fire crews tackle the latest blaze on Bray head. The Éire signs were made from stones during the war as a signal to Allied and German airmen that they were flying over a neutral country. The aircrew posted the pictures on Twitter saying, "“A GASU crew spotted that the fire on Bray Head has revealed an “ÉIRE” sign dating from the Second World War. We see these around the coastline but haven’t seen this before.”
