Met Éireann Confirm ‘Pest From The West’ Predictions As They Issue New Weather Warning

Met Eireann has confirmed the predictions made by Midlands Weather Channel earlier on Tuesday that Ireland will be hit with "heavy disruptive snow" this week.

The midlands experts - who were the first to predict the Beast From The East last year - said that Ireland was under a "snow risk" for this week.

With that being said, Met Éireann has now issued an updated weather warning for this week.

It has extended the status yellow snow-ice warning for all of Ireland from Tuesday until Saturday afternoon at 12pm.

They have also confirmed that they will update the warning further again on Wednesday.

They say that it will be "very cold this week with showers of hail, sleet and snow, frequent across the southwest, west and north, where some significant accumulations are possible this evening and overnight".

The forecaster added, "There will be widespread frost with icy stretches on untreated surfaces and there is the potential for further significant snowfall in places on Thursday."

According to The Irish Sun, Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly has dubbed the upcoming conditions the 'Pest from the West'.
