One Of Ireland’s Most Famous Streets Is Set To Get A Serious Upgrade

Shop Street in Galway is set to get a serious upgrade as part of a €15 million regeneration project. 

The famous street and several adjoining lanes will be totally resurfaced and pedestrianised areas will be expanded in the city. 

Cycling facilities will also be improved, Galway Bay FM reports. 

Works to repair the parts of Shop Street most in need of attention will kick off next year, with the rest of the project set to start in 2019. 

Galway City Council has set aside €5m for the works, and are in talks with various government departments to make up the balance.
