Nurse Aoife McGivney made headlines around the country this week after she saved the life of a Dublin Bus driver who fell unconscious while driving.
After noticing the number 16 bus had gone through a red light on O’Connell Bridge and hit a bike, The Mater Hospital nurse said she “jumped into action”.
Along with some other passengers, she made sure the driver’s foot was off the accelerator and she began doing CPR.
A cyclist was knocked off his bike during the accident, but thankfully he only came away with minor injuries.
Aoife appeared on
The Late Late Show last night to tell her story and described meeting the driver named Martin in the hospital later in the week.
She told host Ryan Tubridy, "I went into the hospital on Wednesday because I wanted to give him some space as well.
"This was all very publicised and he didn't know anything really until his family had told him.
"It was emotional for me to see him looking so well. He looked amazing.
"He was telling me about his life, about what his plans are. I was just so grateful that we got to do that for him."
