The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) aren't satisfied with some elements of the Government's Level 5 exit which is due to be formally announced tomorrow.
It's expected the Government will ease Level 5 restrictions in
three phases throughout December. The first phase would include the reopening of non-essential retail, hairdressers and gyms, before a second phase in which restaurants and pubs that serve food would be allowed to open. Finally, a third phase beginning in the days before Christmas would see home visits and inter-county travel permitted.
However, it's now being widely reported that NPHET isn't happy with some elements of the Government's plan for December, specifically the reopening of the hospitality industry. The group have recommended to Health Minister Stephen Donnelly that restaurants should be allowed to offer takeaway services throughout the festive period. Their stance being said to "complicate" for the Government ahead of Friday night's big announcement.
Current Level 5 restrictions are due to expire on Tuesday of next week having been in place since October 21.
