New Species Of Tropical Fish Named After Enya

Upon glancing at Enya for the first time - everyone knows that you're in the presence of royalty.

But who knew the ethereal goddess had the potential to have a brand new species of fish named after her?

Suppose, if you were to name it after anyone...

A team of scientists working deep in the rainforests of South America have named a new species of fish after the Irish songstress - as the river they found them in holds particular importance to the Donegal woman.

Back in 1988, Enya released a single called Orinoco Flow (known to most as Sail Away) which went on to earn the singer-songwriter a Grammy Award nomination and launch her illustrious career.

The fish in question, Leporinus enyae is a "beautiful little fish," according to the scientists who found it.

This news was published this week in the journal Neotropical Ichthyology by researchers from Oregon State and Brazil.
