Plans to reopen pubs have been pushed forward and here is what you need to know.
They were originally planned to be open at Phase Five in August, but under the new plans that Leo Vardker announced yesterday, pubs that serve food will be permitted to open June 29 with all other pubs being allowed to open July 20.
The pubs that serve food don't need a restaurant license but need to operate with strict social distancing rules.
This means no gathering around the bar and customers must be served at spaced out tables.
Dr. Tony Holohan said that “fellas drinking pints and eating a packet of peanuts” will not suffice as a pub operating as a restaurant.
This means pubs will have to put in different measures to ensure they can operate in line with these terms.
