Ireland is set to introduce new, tougher anti-terror laws in the coming months. 

This follows an EU Directive which, according to the Irish Times, requires all EU countries to implement stronger anti-terror laws. 

The country has 18 months to implement the new laws.

The laws will make it an illegal offence to travel to another country with terror intentions - such as joining a terror group or take part in terrorism. 

It will also be an offence to organise travel of that kind, including purchasing of transport tickets. 

Ireland will also introduce services for victims of terrorism, including medical and psychological treatment.

While not all of these new laws have been implemented yet, it's understood the country fully intends to comply with the EU directive.
