Mixed Gender Sports Will Be Included In 2020 Olympics

Tokyo Olympics 2020 will feature mixed gender sports, the International Olympic Council has announced.

Organisers aim to make the Olympics "more youthful, more urban and include more women", and so has introduced a 4x400m mixed relay in athletics and a 4x100m medley mixed relay in swimming,  a mixed relay in the triathlon and a mixed doubles in table tennis.

Tokyo aims for 50% female participation in the games, and 2020 will also see freestyle BMX added to the tournament for the first time.

Canoe, Rowing, Shooting and Weightlifting, Judo, Sailing, and Shooting will all be gender balanced.
