For those of us working from home, this is the time of year we all dreaded - having to have the heating on all day long.

If you've held out this long, fair play but judging by the latest whether reports, it's quite likely that you'll be giving in by the end of the week. The experts at Met Éireann are forecasting a chilly week ahead with a cold snap set to take hold from Wednesday on. Met Éireann's outlook for the week says that it will be 'much cooler and unsettled for the second half of the week with blustery showers bringing a wintery mix at times with some hard night time frosts.' During the day on Thursday, it will be 'very cold with widespread heavy showers or longer spells of rain' before western counties are hit with 'wintry showers' during the night. 'Lowest temperatures of -4 to -1 degrees with a hard frost' are also expected in Leinster and Ulster. Things won't be much better on Friday, when it will be 'cold with widespread heavy showers'. Some of these showers will be 'wintry with a risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms'.
