It looks like we’re in for a white bank holiday weekend as Met Éireann confirms the first snow of the season is on the way.
Earlier this week the forecaster revealed we were in for temperatures as low as -3°C, bringing fears of heavy snow with it.
And now it looks like we can expect our “first dusting of snow” over the weekend along with the freezing temperatures.
A Met Éireann forecaster said, “Saturday will be another cold, windy and showery day with good sunny spells.
“Again, showers will be heavy or prolonged with the risk of hail or thunder in the north and northwest with some wintry ones on northern hills early on Saturday.
“Top temperatures reaching only around 5°C to 8°C, but feeling colder in the fresh and blustery north to northwesterly wind.”

Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly has also reported that the first bit of snow has already started falling in some parts of the country as of this morning.
Whether we see more snow or not in the next few days, it looks like we’ll be wrapping up very warm this bank holiday weekend…
