Because Met Eireann has confirmed that it's not to be the warmest of
nights.
But on the bright side, it is set to be dry.
They said, "Apart from a few residual showers in southern counties, tomorrow, Tuesday, will be dry across the bulk of the country. It will be cold and frosty to begin in northern counties, with the best of the sunshine in these parts."
"New Year's Eve: Cool and dry with a mix of cloud and clear intervals. Patchy mist and possibly fog forming in the light southeast to the south or variable breezes. Minimum temperatures will range 1 to 5 degrees.
"Cloudier conditions look likely to prevail further south, with lingering mist patches. Maximum temperatures ranging 6 to 10 degrees, coldest in the north, or where mist patches linger, in mainly light easterly or variable breezes."
They also give details of the forecast for New Year's Day, when things are set to get a bit warmer.
"Largely dry but cloudy overall, with just limited bright or sunny intervals. Light to moderate southerly breezes will increase fresh to strong on Atlantic Coasts as the day goes on. Maximum temperatures 7 to 11 degrees."
So, if you're looking to get out for a nice New Year's Day walk to give your 2020 a fresh kick-start, then things are looking bright.
