Met Éireann Issues Yellow Wind Warning For The Entire Country

Met Éireann has just issued a yellow wind warning for the whole of Ireland, following on from the rainfall warning they issued for 13 counties earlier this week.

Gales of up to 110km/h are expected to arrive today and the warning is going to remain in place until this evening.

They said, "Southeasterly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h.

"Gusts will exceed these values in exposed coastal areas and on higher ground, especially in the southwest."

They also said that today would be “a wet and very windy and blustery day”, with a mix of sunny spells and showers expected over the weekend and temperatures of between 9 and 12°C.

Meanwhile Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly said, “Heavy rain will lead to accumulations of around 25 to 40mm but may exceed these limits in mountainous areas.”

Today’s wind warning will remain in place until 3pm for Munster and Connacht and until 7pm everywhere else.
