Snow is forecast to return in parts of the country later in the week.

After a relatively mild (for Ireland, for January) weekend, the weather is back with a BANG this week, with a heavy rain warning issued, and set to be stretched out over parts of two days.
Met Éireann have issued the status yellow rain warning from 9pm tonight (Monday, January 18) to 9pm tomorrow night (Tuesday, January 19), and they described the warning as follows:
"Heavy rainfall will lead to accumulations of 30 to 50mm, with higher accumulations in mountainous areas. This will bring a risk of some river and localised flooding."
The warning has been issued to Cavan, Galway, Leitrim, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo, and Westmeath.
Once the heavy rain passes on Tuesday nights, the colder weather is set to return, with temperatures set to dip to -2 in places.
That cold weather will remain in place until at least Friday, with snow and sleet expected in the east of the country on Wednesday night.
