Met Éireann Releases Statement Following Bizarre Weather Prediction For Next Few Months

As much as we love the heatwave we're getting at the moment (and we do absolutely adore it), we do have to admit that we like the changing of the seasons.

We don't mind it being cold and dark and getting home at 7pm, putting on the heating and doing sweet F.A.

So when the Met Office came out and said that there was a good chance the heatwave might last until October, we were like 'ah here'.

"For August-October, above-average temperatures are more likely than below-average.

"The probability the UK average temperature will fall into the warmest of our five categories is around 55pc. The coldest of our five categories is less than 5pc," is what the Met Office said.

A spokesperson for Met Éireann, however, told The Irish Independent that the Met Office's predictions don't relate to Ireland.

"It doesn't make sense to me. You can't forecast that long in advance, a maximum of 10 days ahead.

"What I can see is only hot weather for [today] until the end of Tuesday, and then it's kind of over.

"High temperatures will occur in the south-east of the UK and we won't get any of it,"
