Sometimes we put a bit too much pressure (
Pardon the pun. Was it a pun? Let's move on...) on Met Éireann to deliver accurate weather forecasts several weeks or even months out from particular events. It can't be easy having the whole country hanging on your every word before deciding weather to don scarves, shades, shorts or the whole lot.
Take earlier this week for example. We were all shocked to learn that the dreaded Beast From The East was all set to
make a return just in time for Easter, ruining all of our plans for the long weekend. We'll wager many of you took the news with a pinch of salt but it appears there's a least a dollop of truth in it.
Met Éireann is now warning of 'frosty nights' throughout Holy Week so we're hoping that any pubs planning to open their doors on Good Friday for the first time will have their fires lit. There's also a mention of 'wintry falls' and while we're not exactly sure what that means, it doesn't exactly have us reaching for the suncream.
After a few cold and rainy days from tomorrow until Tuesday, things start to sound a bit more ominous with the outlook reading 'Indications suggest cold and unsettled weather over the following days, with some rain or showers and some wintry falls mainly in northern and northeastern counties at times. Frosty nights.'
