Lollipop People Are Undergoing Conflict Management Training

With the new school year just around the corner, the all important and hectic school runs will be in full swing. Great.

It's all hands on deck when it comes to organising getting the kiddies to school on time, otherwise you know that they'll be having a canary fit that they'll get in trouble for being late on the first day.

With that stress we can sometimes take it out on others and sometimes the lollipop people are in our sight.

Well now it has been reported that lollipop people are taking new 'conflict management' courses around Ireland.

The scheme will help up to 400 lollipop people in Ireland with skills to deal with aggressive drivers and situations by learning gestures and body language techniques. The new training was originally designed to help members of pubs and nightclubs to deal with drunks.

The course will aim to equip the wardens with the skills to handle defusing road rage issues and learn new conflict management methods.

Noel Gibbons, road safety officer with Mayo County Council spoke to thejournal.ie and said that they don't want school wardens affected by aggressive drivers and, "driving them off the road".

The courses are being offered to local authorities around Ireland and have been running over the past year.
