Yes, you read that right. Lidl has revealed plans to open their first pub in Ireland.
The German discount supermarket has announced that it'll open a new store in Dundonald, Northern Ireland. It has also submitted an application to open a licenced public house on the premises, as well as an off-licence service.
They said in a statement to Irish News, "Lidl can confirm that it has lodged an application to open a licensed premises within our Dundonald store."
They added, "As the fastest-growing retailer in Northern Ireland we believe Dundonald shoppers should have the opportunity to access the same great value assortment currently enjoyed by thousands of shoppers in 37 other Lidl stores in Northern Ireland."

If approved, the store could see shoppers sitting down for a pint before and after their shop.
In a planning application submitted to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, the retailer suggested that a section of the store would be transformed from retail space into a public house with its own separate access and customer toilets.
A new shopfront would also be created for the pub section of the store.
Lidl now has nearly 40 stores in Northern Ireland and over 190 stores across the island of Ireland.
