Broadcasting Authority Reject 7 Complaints About This Moment On The Late Late Show

The Irish Independent is reporting that the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has rejected seven complaints in total made against The Late Late Show.

The complaints were made about a section called, 'bin it' and in this, Maura Derrane stated that she would like to see cyclists "who travel two or three abreast" binned.

“Really there’s no need because; are you in competition with a car? You’re never going to be faster. And (cyclists do it) almost to piss people off; I know that," she said and the audience were also in favour of binning them when asked by Ryan Tubridy.

One complaint said that calling the cyclists "arrogant", could “encourage frustration and anger against vulnerable road users, which is dangerous and irresponsible”.

Another said that “that people who cycle are already vulnerable to bad driving and even worse attitudes and believes this item encouraged the vilification of cyclists”.

A few months ago, Cycling Ireland said that the particular segment represented “casual incitement of hatred” towards cyclists while Dublin Cycling Campaign described the segment as “casual cyclist hatred”.

Dublin Cycling Group were "absolutely appalled by the disgusting display of casual cyclist hatred on last night's Late Late Show on RTE."
