The south of the country has been dealing with very heavy rainfall today with counties Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Tipperary amongst those hardest hit.
Updating the public on the situation down in Kerry, Carlow Weather tweeted to say:
"The Met Éireann station in Killarney has recorded 39.8mm since midnight and it recorded 24.9mm between 7pm and midnight yesterday.
"That makes it 64.7mm in under 24 hours and still raining!"

A Status Orange weather warning remains in place for counties Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford unil 9pm tonight with Met Éireann advising that very heavy rain will cause further river and surface water flooding. According to forecasters, 50 to 80mm of rainfall is possible with that figure higher again in mountainous regions.
