Bray will miss this beloved entrepreneur and community man.
We were sorry to hear of the death of local businessman Joe Duggan this week; the 91 year old sadly passed away in his sleep on Monday. Duggan's family business owns several Bray restaurants and bars, including Platform Pizza, the Martello, the Harbour, Joe's Chicken, Box Burger, and Frank Duff's. As a sign of respect, these premises will all close on Thursday 24th March for the day in honour of Joe.

Duggan was a beloved member of the community. He is survived and missed by his nine children and 24 grandchildren.
According to
The Independent Duggan began his career in hospitality when he bought the former Railway Inn and renamed it the Dug Inn. This became a family-run business when his sons got involved, and this business runs and operates several hospitality venues today, many of which are almost landmarks in Bray today. Duggan even received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Bray Chamber of Commerce Endeavour Awards in 2015.

Mr Duggan said his father had “great vision” and a huge interest in people. He was known for encouraging all the staff in the business to pursue opportunities."
Daata Restaurant expressed their condolences to the family in an
Instagram post, stating:
"We at Daata offer our sincere condolences to our friends the entire Duggan Family on the passing of dad and Bray’s best Joe Duggan. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís."
