James McClean Got A Nasty Shock When He Returned Home From Playing A Match Last Night

What started out as a great night for James McClean turned into a nightmare as soon as he got home.

The Republic Of Ireland star scored a thunderbolt to give his West Bromwich Albion side a first half lead away to West Ham United in their Premier League encounter last night.

However, the Hammers turned things around in the second half and won the game 2-1 thanks to a last-minute winner from Andy Carroll. The result leaves McClean and his teammates without a win in 21 games, a run which stretches back to August.

To make matters worse, the recent recipient of the RTÉ Sportsperson Of The Year award returned home to find that his house had been robbed.

The star posted a message on his Instagram Stories which said 'When you get home from a last min defeat and your house has been robbed.. thieving smelly bastards! Great night!'

The incident adds to a miserable couple of months for McClean. After failing to qualify for the World Cup, he scored an own goal against Arsenal on New Year's Eve. With the serious threat of relegation now looming in McClean's club career, he'll be hoping that things pick up throughout 2018.

In better news for Irish players, Shane Long scored his first goal since February before his Southampton side went down 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace.
