Whether you've been on a J1 yourself, or know someone who has went on an American adventure in the past few years, it might be worth noting that you could be owed a serious amount of money.
It has emerged that a whopping amount of students who went on the J1 work and travel visa could be owed a massive amount in tax back that they haven't yet claimed.
The Irish Mirror reported that around half of the 30,000 J1-ers in the last four years haven't yet applied for their tax refund in the US.
And now Taxback.com are urging those who haven't yet claimed their tax refunds to do so.
Eileen Devereux, Commercial Director at Taxback.com, said: "In introducing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, President Trump eliminated the personal exemption for tax years 2018 through 2025."
"This is likely to affect the thousands of Irish students who go to the US every summer to work."
She added: "Anecdotal evidence suggests that a sizeable portion, probably about somewhere around 50% or more, of students fail to reclaim their taxback - which typically amounts to about $800."
Those who went on a J1 in the year 2014 in particular are being advised to apply for their tax refund, as the closing date is 17 April.
