Supervalu are the latest to cut the cost of their own-brand bread.
One by one, Irish supermarkets have been cutting the price of their own-brand bread in an attempt to alleviate the pressure of high grocery prices for consumers.
According to
RTÉ News, Supervalu is the latest to announce a price cut for their own-brand bread, following on from the likes of Tesco and Aldi yesterday.
Supervalu's 800g own-brand loaf will drop in price by 10 cent, going from 99c to 89c.
Last month we saw a similar price cutting trend when it came to milk.
These price cuts come following the leaders of the main Irish supermarkets attending the
Retail Forum yesterday over concerns of soaring food prices.
In conversation with
RTÉ Radio 1, Ged Nash of the Labour Party called the sudden drop of prices across the supermarkets "interesting", but also branded Tesco's cutting of bread costs ahead of the Retail Forum meeting as a "PR exercise" in order to take some heat off them.
