Irish Person Among 157 Killed In Tragic Ethiopian Airlines Crash

An Irish person was killed in the horrific Ethiopian Airlines crash that had no survivors, it’s been confirmed. The Boeing 737 bound for Nairobi, Kenya crashed just minutes after taking off from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia at 8.38am local time. 157 people died in the crash and Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebre Mariam told a press conference that the flight was carrying passengers from 33 different countries at the time. https://twitter.com/flyethiopian/status/1104702003924619264 It included 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, nine Ethiopians, eight Italians, eight Chinese, eight Americans, seven Britons, seven French citizens, six Egyptians, five Dutch citizens, four Indians and four people from Slovakia, as reported by the BBC. There were also passengers from Austria, Sweden, Russia, Spain, Belgium and Poland, among others. A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs told The Independent, “The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of the incident, and we stand ready to provide consular assistance if requested.”
