Irish Hospitals Are Experiencing A Shortage Of Chemotherapy Drugs For Cancer Patients

Hospitals around Ireland are experiencing a shortage of life-saving chemotherapy drugs.

According to the Irish Independent, the company who supply the drugs to hospitals, Baxter Healthcare, has failed to provide the necessary supply of drugs over the last two weeks.

The shortage means that cancer patients are receiving a reduced version of their prescribed treatment.

Doctors are forced to adjust and reduce each patient's dosage, despite the growing number of patients who desperately need the drugs.

Baxter Healthcare is the sole provider of chemotherapy drugs in Ireland, to both public and private hospitals. 

It is understood that Baxter are endeavouring to return the drug supply to normal.
