Irish Airspace Closed ‘With Immediate Effect’ Due To Radar Failure

Irish airspace has been closed 'with immediate effect' due to issues with flight radar working correctly, which is currently affecting a number of airports around the country.

Shannon Airport confirmed the news on their Twitter account and said they are 'working to rectify the situation'.

They said, 'Air Traffic Control at Ballcasey, Shannon are experiencing issues with their flight radar. Work underway to rectify the situation.

'Arrivals and Departures at SNN have been suspended until the radar is fully operational.'

However, the issue is not currently affecting flights to or from Dublin Airport.

The International Flight Network tweeted, 'There is an exception in place for Dublin Airport because of its proximity to British airspace.'

Cork Airport tweeted that they hoped arrivals would resume at 10.40pm 'if the situation improves' and that a Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Cork had been cancelled.
