Here’s Where Ireland Ranks Among The Countries With The Best Quality Of Life In The World

A new UN report has just revealed that Ireland ranks among the top five countries in the world when it comes to quality of life.

Ireland came in fourth place in the UN’s Human Development Index – up 13 spots compared to the previous five years.

It also noted that we made the quickest improvement in the world during that time.

We’re currently behind only Norway, Switzerland and Australia – and while that’s obviously great news, we’re not doing as well when it comes to gender inequality, where we’re currently in 23rd place out of 189 countries.

The report notes, 'On average people are living longer, are more educated and have greater income. But there remain massive differences across the world in people’s well-being.'

The bottom five countries on the index were Niger, the Central African Republic, South Sudan, Chad and Burundi.

The UN Human Development Index takes several factors into account, including life expectancy, years of schooling and standard of living.
