The motorway is a driver's dream. We dream about that open stretch of road when we're stuck in traffic jams on national roads.
And, it seems like Ireland's newest motorway is about to start construction "as soon as possible" according to The Irish Examiner.
Plans for the €220m Cork to Ringaskiddy M28 is currently being talked about by Cork City Council after it got the green light yesterday by An Bord Pleanála.
There was six conditions to be added in total for its approval including noise mitigation measures and a revised junction layout for Carr’s Hill/Maryborough Hill.
The hearing lasted 12 days and among some of the concerns was the noise and air pollution that the motorway could cause for residents along the road.
“It is clear from the analysis that should the road project not go ahead, the noise levels for most of the existing N28 route will continue to increase,” said inspector Mary Kennelly.
