International Musicians May Soon Be Forced To Pay Tax To Play In Ireland

A call has been made to enforce International music stars to pay a tax on the money they make from their performances here. 

According to 98FM, it's feared that musicians from all around the world leave the country without previously settling their debts. 

At the time of writing, international artists have no enforced tax payments on the money they make from performances here. It's understood that the tax they pay is settled in their home country. 

Members of the Oireachtas Arts Committee are keen to change the system, with Sinn Féin's Peadar Toibín stating that musicians are making up to €30 million on concerts held here throughout the year. 

A potential solution, based around the idea of claiming a percentage of the earnings before the artist leaves, has been suggested.
