PIC: Up To 14 Inches Of Snow Predicted As ‘Storm Pest From The West’ To Hit These Areas Hardest According To Map

This weather map of the Global Euro HD Forecast shows that nearly all of Ireland could get snow over the next couple of days.

According to the map, parts of Ireland could experience as much as 14 inches of snow on high ground as the storm approaches the country from the west coast on Thursday.

The snow will be heavy in the south, south east and west especially, but the forecasters are expecting parts of Dublin and Wicklow to be hit the hardest of them all.

Met Éireann has counteracted this statement by saying that there will only be "significant accumulations" of snow on high ground on Thursday.

"On Thursday, a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow will move in accompanied by strong easterly winds.

"Significant accumulations of snow are possible on high ground and with some accumulations to lower-levels at times."

Midlands Weather Channel, who successfully predicted Beast From The East before anyone else has said that "temporary blizzards" could even hit the country towards the end of the week.

"Snowfall totals will vary quiet considerably across the affected areas, with some areas in the orange zone seeing between 10-15 cm, while the heaviest snowfall will be reserved for higher ground above 250 meters, with strong easterly winds providing temporary blizzard conditions, with upland roads becoming impassable in many mountainous areas.

"Over higher ground falls of 20-30 cm may occur, with some drifting likely."
