The UK Met Office has issued an ice warning for six counties with locals advised to exercise extreme caution in light of hazardous conditions.
Valid from 4pm this afternoon, the warning applies to Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry with forecasters advising that icy surfaces will lead to "difficult travel conditions". The warning is expected to remain in place until 10am tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, Met Éireann has issued a small craft warning on Irish coasts due to strong winds from Bloody Foreland to Fair Head to Carlingford Lough. Another
weather advisory was put in place earlier in the week, with it extending until 11:59pm on Sunday.
Tonight will be cold and mainly dry with clear spells, however, wintry showers will persist across much of the west and north.
The forecast for tomorrow says that "Friday will be another cold day with bright winter sunshine. However, scattered heavy showers will affect Atlantic counties, especially the northwest and southwest, where some wintry falls are possible."
