Hurling has been inscribed on UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list.

Sounds great, but what is the intangible cultural heritage list?

Intangible cultural heritage is defined by UNESCO as "living intangible expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants. It is made up of oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals and festive event, knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe, and traditional craftsmanship knowledge and techniques."

They aren't wrong tbf - hurling is an integral part of Irish life which many cultural and social values spring from and centre around.

Basically, Hurling and Camogie is class.

While there is a massive grá for hurling across the country, so much more can be done for camogie.

Like a lot of female sports, funding, coverage and public support would go a long way to bringing camogie up to par with hurling. The talent is there, it's time we showcased it.

The 20x20 initiative is aiming to boost attendance, support and coverage, ultimately growing female sport by 20% by the end of 2020.

Go forth and support your local camógs as much as your local hurlers.
