Simon Harris has said that the government is "going to work on guidance over the next couple of weeks to provide more information in relation to weddings."
Health Minister Simon Harris was speaking on Morning Ireland earlier today during an interview in which he was asked about the possibility of large weddings taking place this summer. He appeared to pour cold water on this idea, saying: "if I’m really honest with you, when I talk to public health doctors now, I think it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be in a position where there’d be anything like 100 people being able to be at a wedding in July.”
However, the minister did state that "What I can say is this - we’re going to work on guidance over the next couple of weeks so we can provide more information in relation to weddings."
Mr Harris added that he was due to a groomsman at a wedding in the near future but like plenty of other nuptials, that ceremony has been postponed to next year. He was speaking on the morning that Ireland entered phase 1 of its roadmap to recovery, with
hardware stores seeing large queues forming from early today.
