Great News As Séamus Coleman Returns To Full Training 10 Months After Horror Injury

You can't keep a good man down. Last March, the nation grimaced as Séamus Coleman suffered a horrific leg break during the Republic Of Ireland's World Cup Qualifier against Wales. We were all there for our captain as he writhed in agony on the Aviva Stadium pitch, none more so than team mate Shane Long who comforted the Donegal man in the immediate aftermath the incident. Now, almost 10 months later, the Everton star has returned to full training and should make a return to the field of play sooner rather than later. The news was confirmed at a general meeting held by The Toffees in Liverpool last night. Manager Sam Allardyce said that Coleman has started training but it was too early to say when he would be back in competitive action.

Realistically, we're unlikely to see the 29-year-old in an Ireland shirt until the autumn at least given that we failed to qualify for this summer's World Cup but the news is still great to hear. On a less positive note, when Coleman returns it's possible that Martin O'Neill will no longer be his manager as reports suggest he's being lined up as the new boss of Premier League outfit Stoke City.
