The Department of Social Protection has issued a warning about fraudulent text messages which ask recipients to reveal their bank details.
In a statement issued this morning, the department said that it 'is aware that some people have received fraudulent text messages asking them to click on a link to confirm their MyGovID and their bank details.'

These texts are not from the Department. Please do not click on the link or reply to the text.'

It is added that if you think you have provided personal information in response to these messages, you should contact your bank immediately.
Earlier this year, the Department of Social Protection issued a
similar warning about text messages which told members of the public that they were entitled to a Covid-19 payment.
