George Hook Has Just Been Removed From His Radio Show…..Sort Of

Following an investigation into controversial comments on rape made on air by Newstalk radio presenter George Hook, it's been confirmed that he is stepping down from High Noon, his lunchtime show on the station.

There was public outrage after he asked “is there no blame now to the person who puts themselves in danger?”, and made other extremely questionable remarks about rape in a long-winded monologue during his show.

Hook will be leaving the lunchtime show, however Newstalk has announced in a statement today that he will be back on air pretty soon - with a new weekend show.

"Newstalk has now concluded the process which reviewed the circumstances that led to George Hook’s comments on rape recently.  The station confirms that George Hook will be stepping down from his lunchtime slot. 

"He will return to the station in December 2017 when he will take on a new weekend show. Newstalk will shortly be announcing a replacement for the lunchtime show.

"Newstalk will not be making any further comment on this issue."

After large sponsors pulled out of his show, guests walked off air and about 20 staff drafted a letter demanding his resignation, we're not sure if this will cut it.
