An Garda Síochána, along with the Banking & Payments Federation of Ireland and Retail Excellence, have launched the campaign in anticipation of the annual Christmas shopping rush. They want to remind keen shoppers and retailers who sell their products online to make an important effort to protect their financial and personal details. It was reported that a massive €13.2 billion was spent online by Irish consumers just last year. Customers are warned to use creditable retailers and to be wary and research brands or websites that they do not know.
