Gardai Investigating Mysterious Death Of Wicklow Pedestrian

Gardai are further investigation the circumstances of a suspected hit-and-run in Arklow, Wicklow early on Monday morning in which a man was killed.

The Journal.ie report that Declan Kelly, aged 49, was found dead on the Coolgreaney road just after 2.40am, with the gardai describing his injuries as horrific.

A second area near where the victim's body was found has been sealed off, and a man in his 40s who presented himself at Arklow Garda station a short while after the incident is helping the gardai with their enquiries.

A blue Ford Mondeo car has also been taken for forensic examination, and gardai have a number of theories surrounding the mysterious death, including the possibility that a second vehicle was involved or if the victim's body had been moved.

Gardai found significant items yesterday at an area around 2km from where the man's body was found.

Gardai are asking anyone with information or any witnesses to contact them at Arklow Garda station on 0402 26320.
