Get the hats and scarves ready because Met Éireann is predicting that the Irish weather is about to take a turn for the worse.
The rest of the weekend is set to be a wet one with a risk of hail and thunder later on before rain spreads across the country on Sunday evening. There will then be 'rain or showers on most days' next week, with showers potentially becoming wintry on Monday and minimum temperatures of zero to four degrees.
Tuesday will see showers mostly in the north but a little bit of respite for the rest of the country with 'good dry and sunny periods.'
The worst of the week looks to be saved for Wednesday when 'rain could turn to sleet or snow on higher ground' and early indications point to the cold weather sticking around for the rest of the week.
