Four counties have been issued with a status orange rainfall warning for tonight and tomorrow with a risk of 'river flooding and surface water flooding.'
The status orange warning was issued by Met Éireann earlier today and covers the counties of Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford. It is valid from 7pm on Monday night until 9pm on Tuesday and states that 'very heavy rain on Monday night and Tuesday will likely cause further river flooding and surface water flooding. Rainfall totals of 50 to 80mm, higher in mountainous regions.'
Meanwhile, the counties in Leinster and Connacht, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Limerick and Clare have been issued with a status yellow rainfall warning that states: 'Heavy rain on Monday night and Tuesday will lead to some river flooding and localised surface flooding. Rainfall totals of 30 to 50mm, higher in mountainous regions.' This warning is valid from 9pm tonight until 9pm tomorrow night.
A wind warning that was issued Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Munster, Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo yesterday will be valid 9pm tonight until 6pm tomorrow.
