Raw.
Red, red raw.
Sunburn is a b*tch.
And we've no one to blame bar ourselves.
If you had a shite night's sleep last night, like the rest of us burnt folk, then take note of the following tips for tonight:
-
Chug water: keep a pint of water beside the bed and make sure to drink plenty of it. Your body dehydrates when sleeping, and sunburn only makes this worse
-
Apply fresh aloe vera: if possible use fresh from the plant - as processed gels can dry out your skin. Pop it in the fridge to keep it extra cool or pop it in an ice cube tray and rub it all over your skin - the dream
-
Sleep naked: the only thing you should be sleeping in while sunburnt is your birthday suit. End of story. Clothing can often irritate and exacerbate painful sunburn. Alternatively, wear cotton/breathable fabric
-
Sleep on silk sheets: while we know this ain't the Ritz, if you've got silk sheets they'll make all the difference. Cotton sheets feel like sandpaper to raw, burnt skin. The soft texture of silk is ideal for sunburnt skin and won’t aggravate your sensitive skin as you move and shift in your sleep. Your body will be able to glide over the sheets with ease the silk will prevent chafing in the night
Sweet dreams xo
