When two people decide to get married, it is assumed that they are insanely in love – and will remain together in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer, for filters and Snapchats?
Maybe not.
A recent groom in Saudi Arabia clearly wasn’t too fond of his fiancee’s social media habits, as he called the whole thing off as a result of her Snapchat antics at their wedding, two hours previous.
According to local reports, they divorced due to her breaking a prenuptial agreement banning her from using social media.
It is now common practice for people to ban phones from their weddings, so as the happy couple can remain happy, privately.
The bride’s brother told Saudi paper Okaz:
There was a prenuptial agreement between my sister and her fiancé that she would not use social media applications such as Snapchat, Instagram or Twitter to post or send her pictures.
It was included in the marriage contract and became binding. Regretfully, my sister did not honour the pledge and used Snapchat to share pictures from the wedding ceremony with her female friends, resulting in the shocking decision by the groom to cancel their marriage and call for divorce.
Yikes... Tough crowd.
