Famous Astronaut Buzz Aldrin Is Coming To Ireland To Speak About His Space Experiences

Buzz Aldrin, the second person to ever walk on the moon as part of the United State's Apollo 11 mission in 1969, is coming to Cork at the end of this month.

Aldrin will give a talk as part of The International Space University (ISU) nine week space studies programme in Cork Institute of Technology.

Buzz Aldrin is a bit of a ledge, having said he got a face-lift because all the "G-force" from his space mission caused some sagging, and at age 72 he once punched a conspiracy theorist in the jaw after the man tried to get Buzz to say the moon landings were faked.

Dr Niall Smith, Head of Research at C.I.T, said to BreakingNews.ie that they're honoured to have Dr Aldrin at the programme.

"He was an integral part of the most pioneering space programmes of their time having participated in both the Gemini and Apollo series of missions. He has continued his lifelong association with space in academia and in space engineering and is an ongoing inspiration to all of us," he said.

Tickets to the talk, which takes place on June 27th, are free and are available from today on a first come first served basis here.
