As if the huge invasion of 5 million spiders across Ireland wasn't bad enough the latest news is that the False Widow variety are now showing up across the country in record numbers. 

What is a "False Widow Spider"

• It is native to the Canary island but has spread to Europe
• It is one of the few spiders on these shores than can inflict painful bites
• Bites are similar to a bee or wasp sting
• It is spreading Northwards into England and Ireland because of milder weather

Where are they in Ireland?

People have been spotting them all over the country and researchers have been warning about the potential for them to have a venomous bite...

• They live close to buildings and houses where people are
• They prefer cities to rural area
