The last thing Facebook needed was a 'bug' to take control of its platform.
Facebook have admitted that for four days towards the end of May, a bug in their system changed 14 million Facebook users', from around the world, default sharing setting for all new posts to public instead of private.
The bug, which took place from May 18 to 22, happened while Facebook were testing a new feature.
Facebook have confirmed that they have since changed the posts back to private from that time period which took five days to fix.
If you were affected by this bug, you will get a notification on the app or website.
You'll see a message which will urge you to 'Please Review Your Posts' which features a link to a list of posts that you shared on the site while the bug was active.
In a statement, the tech giant said that:
"We recently found a bug that automatically suggested posting publicly when some people were creating their Facebook posts.
”We have fixed this issue and starting today we are letting everyone affected know and asking them to review any posts they made during that time.
"To be clear, this bug did not impact anything people had posted before and they could still choose their audience just as they always have. We’d like to apologise for this mistake.”
