Facebook Cafés Coming To Ireland To Give You A Privacy Check-Up

Have you ever wondered how private your social media activity really is? Well, now you can find out. Because Facebook is bringing handy little pop-up cafés to Dublin, Cork and Galway to allow you to have a privacy check-up while enjoying some free coffee. According to a recent One Poll survey, 65% of Irish people are concerned about their social media privacy, with a further 67% saying they worry about who is looking at their posts. Facebook explained in a statement that the privacy check-up “allows people to tailor their personal settings and control who sees their profile information, how much of it is seen and by who, and which apps and websites are connected to Facebook through their profile”. Head of Facebook Ireland Gareth Lambe explained, "It’s normal to worry about who can see the things you share on social media, but not everyone knows what they can do about it. "That’s why we have made customising your privacy settings on Facebook quick and easy. "At our pop up cafés you can get help and advice on how to change your privacy settings – all in the time it takes to make a cup of coffee." The pop-up Facebook café will first arrive at Network on Dublin's Angier St on Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 22 (between 8am and 4pm on both days). Then, the café will head Espresso 44, William St, Galway on Wednesday, October 23 between 8am and 4pm. And finally, On Thursday, October 24, the café will take over Cork's SOMA cafe on Tuckey St, again between 8am and 4pm.
