Emma Mhic Mhathúna, Aged 37, Dies Following Battle With Cancer

Emma Mhic Mhathúna has died aged 37 in Tralee Hospital in Co. Kerry The mother of five was at the centre of the CervicalCheck crisis. Earlier this year, she settled a case against the HSE and US lab, Quest, for €7.5 million. Quest admitted to misreading two of Emma's cervical smear slides in 2010 and 2013. The HSE admitted liability for not tell Ms Mhic Mathúna of the Cervical Check audit. Along with others, she campaigned for openness during the controversy. RIP Emma.
