Ed Sheeran’s Cork Gigs In Jeopardy Following Disagreement Over Lighting

A row over the funding allocated to upgrade public lighting at Páirc Uí Chaoimh could pose a threat to Ed Sheeran's upcoming concert dates.

The Irish Examiner reported that Fianna Fáil councillor Terry Shannon said the Cork County Board still have not paid for lighting upgrades.

Concern over the public lighting in the main areas used by fans to leave the stadium emerged after a game on Saturday. 

"They haven't paid up. It's as simple as that, and it was one of the conditions of their planning."

He added: "They need to get the finger out and get on with it, especially with the Ed Sheeran concerts coming down the tracks."

Páirc Uí Chaoimh manager Bob Ryan said they have made an offer and are waiting for a response from City Hall.

A senior council spokesman said that the issue will be addressed soon.

Ed Sheeran's Cork concerts are due to begin on 4 May and run for three days.
