While we plan to operate the majority of flights as scheduled today we are experiencing challenges with our London Heathrow operation due to freezing fog conditions there. We continue to monitor the weather conditions and wish to reassure customers that our teams are doing all they can to minimise any disruption to their travel plans.https://twitter.com/AerLingus/status/1601897348417863680?s=20&t=marrUKw6jwGl41DlwOD4yg Last night runways at both Stansted and Gatwick were closed temporarily in order to clear snow from their runways, with yellow warnings of ice, fog and snow in place for much of the UK. In an update on Twitter, Gatwick Airport said that while the airport was now reopened, ' freezing weather is causing some delays and cancelations'. https://twitter.com/Gatwick_Airport/status/1602244538046758913?s=20&t=marrUKw6jwGl41DlwOD4yg Stansted Airport has also now reopened but has issued similar advice, writing:
London Stansted Airport remains fully open and operational, however, the continued cold weather may still impact your journey. Passengers should contact their airline for flight information.Header image via Shutterstock READ NEXT: Annie Lynch, the first person to get the Covid vaccine in Ireland has died aged 81
